11/07/2007 - Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

I was turning off the lights on the side of the house the illuminate the driveway last night, and I saw SNOWFLAKES!!!!! I thought that my eyes were decieving me, so I went out back on the deck, and yep, there they were, swirling around the air - bits of SNOW!!!! And the air had that cold snapping bite to it and the wind was whipping! And there was SNOW...it didn't stick to anything, but there was SNOW!

*I like snow (can't you tell)....hate to drive it it, but I like to look at it

11/07/2007 - No Alarm Clock Needed in my house

My child is putting me through the paces this week - and it's only Wednesday. MY dh is working in Conn. this week, so we are home and on our own for the most part. I swear something has gone off in this child little brain that says, Daddy's not home.....let's give Mama a run for her money. So, I have dealt with the possibility of Maddy spitting up blood, which resulted in a call to the GI, and another increase in her Prevacid The again, last night, after a huge scream fest, and 4 ozs of a bottle, she finally....finally koncked out. But, only to have me panick yet again (so now this is twice in the last 24 hours) because it looked like something had bitten her on the inside of her ear, just outside the opening to the ear hole (I dont' know the proper name is, but I hope you all understand). So, I called my mom, who immediatly walked over, onlyl to have her tell me that she most likely just scratched herself, and that rest assured, somehting was not living in her ear, living on her flesh. So, I up to bed she goes. Now, everynight since Sunday (dh left on Sunday afternoon) because it's just me, I have immediately made bottles, taken a shower and gone to bed. Maddy has slept until her normal 5am wake up time each of these days. Last night, the only change in the system was that I stayed up to watch a one hour show I had on the DVR. Big mistake.....I was only in bed about 1/2 hour later than normal, and Madaline decided that she should be awake at 3am. I had just checked on her at about 2:30 - becuase the house was incredibly cold last night, and had to get up to get an extra blanket for my bed. So, as a result, of this abrupt, sudden waking at 3am - I turned into "BAD Mama"....I got up, went into her room, re-covered her up with her blanket, gave her a nuk, and said:

"Madaline Elizabeth, it's 3am in the morning, we are NOT getting up yet - it's to early, go back to sleep"

*Like, I would really be able to reason with an infant at that hour in the first place*

The I turned around, walked out of her room, crawled back into my bed, and laid there. I could hear her in there gabbering away and kicking her legs, but she didn't fuss, and I am assuming that she fell back asleep (I don't know when, becuase I fell back asleep ), and we proceeded to get up 4:30. Granted, this is only a 1/2 hour earlier than what we usually do, but I swear, it will make a HUGE difference in how awake I feel at 2:30 this afternoon.

So, here I am at work, now wondering if I crawled under my desk for a little snooze if anyone would notice?

11/05/07 - Roll Maddy Roll

Yep - you guessed it, our little Maddy rolled for the first time this weekend.

Well, the first time that we were able to see her roll. A few days this week, I went it to pick her out of the crib and she was on her back (we put her to bed on her tummy), but I figured she was using the spindles or the wall or something for leverage. Then, yesterday, she was having some tummy time on the floor, and she rolled herself over! I was so happy!!! And, when I rolled her back over on her tummy, she did it again, in the opposite direction. This was a good thing, as DH missed it the first time.

Where is the time going? She's growing to fast on us!!!

10/18/07 - NO Weight Gain for Maddy

We had a our one month follow-up GI appt. yesterday. I think it went well, I really like Maddy's GI, so I think that helps. We discussed how she seems to be incredibly refluxy in the am and when we are on the downward side of the 12 hours till the next dose, that she also seems to be having some reflux issue - so he agreed that we should give her a full 15mg solutab in the am, and then 7.5 (or half a solutab) for her pm dose. He also wants us to continue using the formula we are using (and they didn't have any samples or formula coupons ), and want me to think about changing her feeding schedule - we are currently feeding 5oz. 6x a day, and he suggested that we move towards 6oz. 5x a day. I expressed some concern to him that she sometimes archs her back and squels when she is eating, but he examined her throat, and there was no redness, so he thought taht perhaps the increase in the prevacid might provide some relief in that area.

The only area that I say some major concern was that our little bug has not gained any weight. Which, makes nooooo sense to me. She has only been refluxing between 1-2 tablespoons to 1 ounce of formula up in the am and she might reflux up about a 1/2 a bottle at the sitters, and she usually does not reflux up anything from her evening feeding. She weighed 10lbs. 5oz on Sept. 28th when I took her for her regular 2 months ped appointment, and about a month later, she is still only 10lbs 5ozs. She is incredibly active for a baby - rarely sleeps and loves to play on the floor, in her swing , or in her bouncy seat - she is always wiggeling around, waveing her arms and kicking her legs.....

He also did not seem concerned that some days it takes forever for her to have a BM and it makes her miserable. Apparently as longs as she is not passing nuggets, and since she is fairly regualar - usually an am & pm, that there is no cause for concern. He did not seem concerned that there are some night where I have to pace the floor for about 2.5 hours, holding her facing out, in one arm, down my body to bring her comfort - (I am building some great muscles......but it's killing my back....) - and that all because she goes.....e v e n t u a l l y .....

The GI also warned us that her GERD could get worse over the next few months, and seeing how we are seeing an increase in the spitting up, we are most likley headed that direction. . But, he also said that, maybe with the increase in the meds, that it may not.

So.....this am was our first increase in dosing.....so we will have to see how it goes.

10/5/07 - OMG!! 7 Hrs. of Sleep!!

Yep....that's right.....our little Maddy slept from 9pm till 4am this morning!!!!

My husband and I got 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep!!!

I almost could not believe my eyes when I looked at the alarm clock when I first heard her squirming in her crib.......perhaps this means that there is a light at the end of the tunnel?
